Kieran Joyce
What did you do before joining Impact Media?
Worked for Accenture, Vision Consulting and a great company called Software Resources who are sadly no longer around. My main role in each of these companies was as a programmer at various levels of expertise. I completed a four year degree course in IT at University of Limerick (a long time ago, even before the advent of the mobile phone!!), and after leaving college ended up in Colorado as part of a partnership programme with JDEdwards.
Where are you from?
The hurling stronghold of Portumna, Co Galway.
What exactly do you do?
Many, many things! But mainly I am the chief IT nerd in the company. I have lunch alone because no-one can converse at the same level of techie-speak. My colleagues have drawn comparisons between myself and Napolean Dynamite. And my skills :- nunchuku skills & bow hunting skills.
What’s the best buzz about your job?
Getting a piece of code to work after spending hours on it. However, this has its pitfalls. If the reason why it wouldnt work is very simple, but hard to find, then this can be very frustrating.
What are your career highlights so far?
Worked on a project for 2 years for Hibernian Insurance (with Vision), which involved a complete overhaul of their claims processing. The project involved a team of about 20 developers, and moved the company from their old terminal based system to a fully integrated web based infrastructure. For all my advertising colleagues, this is complete techie-babble, but it was quite an achievement at the time!
What are your spare time passions?
Web, music and sport. Piano is my passion. I have a desire to purchase a white Steinway Grand at some stage in my life. I also have a big interest in Aeronautics.
Your one secret (but non-work related) talent.
If I told it wouldnt be a secret anymore. A white hot chocolate with marshmallows may persuade me to reveal all.
What’s your favourite ad of all time?
The Guinness ad from mid 90's with yer man dancing.
If you were reincarnated, who or what would you come back as?
The man from the Guinness ad.

What’s your idea of perfect happiness?
On stage with Billy outa Billy & Kieran featuring Hank (of a Saturday night) rockin the place out into the small hours. But I still love you technology, always & forever.
What’s your dream vehicle?
The Airbus A380 / F-15 Eagle. Or the Lambo Spyder (in yellow).
